Can you tell us a little bit about your background?
Ehmm, working living in AMS, designing, painting, constructing. Very lucky to be able to live from what I like to do. Background: graffiti artist.

How did you get into graffiti?
Got into graffiti in '83. Lot's of tags in the city, a good friend of mine was doing it, and I got the spark.

How did you develop the three-dimensional structured style that you have become known for?
From 88-94, I studied Industrial Design Engineering. I stopped writing more or less from 89-90, but when I got back doing it, I wanted to put the knowledge I gained with product design into designing letters. Letters approaching as 3d objects. Took me a lot of time to figure out, how to do that.

The style of your work seems to have hints of architecture and sculpture, are these things that you have been influenced by?
Architecture itself didn't have my interest for a long time, but I am influenced by building in general. You know concrete structures, building sites, abandoned stuff.

What other styles are you influenced by?
Actually, lately, when in a bookstore I only look at photography books. Not so much people's pictures, but landscapes/cities..

Graffiti artists are getting a lot of media attention and are showing in a lot more mainstream exhibitions lately, do you think that this is a good or bad thing for graffiti?
Most graffiti artists that are getting media attention, are not graffiti artist, or not only graffiti artist I think. I don't consider myself a graffiti artist, but an artist with a graffiti background.

Have you been arrested or in major trouble because of your graffiti?
Not really, paid some fines, cleaning costs, nothing too big. Been lucky to have grown up when it wasn't considered such a threat as it is now, plus Holland is pretty liberal.

Do you have any new projects coming up soon that you can tell us about?
At the moment I working on several record covers, (for instance Rima
project on Compost/JCR).
