What do you know about Australian web designers?
Well although I am immersed in the Aus design scene I still don't know that much about Aus designers which is crazy. There are a lot of very talented people down here and they are slowly but surely becoming known thanks to site like Aus INfront and well... DiK I suppose. We are down here!

I think the aus design is is very subtle... people like to hide in the wood works, and emerge slowly but surely. A lot of talent down here in australia, and they are pushing boundries slowly but surely... beaware world coz I think you will soon experience a massive design explosion down under, that will shake your notion of design... be warned ; )

How did you first learn of the internet?
I first got on the net at University playing around with FTP and thinking that was all you could do on the net, FTP and email. I was very much mistaken... however that was in 1992 so who knows what was going on then.

Fuck my memory does not work that well... I guess I have always been aware of the net, but never had the chance to experience it... i geuss I was moving in otherworlds for quite sometime... my first expereince with it though was about three years ago at uni, and then I got connected at home about a year ago...hahahaha I am a newbie then!

What do you like/hate about the net?
I love the internationalism of the web and also the ease of being able to publish your work and have the world check it out in a matter of minutes. I hate some of the attitudes on the web and the way that the corporate world is trying to turn it into one big branding festival.

I don't really hate anything about the net... I love everything... and know to take a lot of it with a grain of salt. Want change things that piss me off, they are out of my control, so i just learn to adapt and emerge in a new form. Look at things in a different light...

What drew you to web design?
Got back from overseas and starting surfing around and decided to join in the fun. Was a new design challenge as well.

Got connected, loved what I saw... I was very lucky as I found a great bunch of sites and spoke with the creators. From there I never looked back thinking to myself this is what I want this is where I want to go today ; ) Shout outs to Andy, Fox, and Lampard... not forgeting Koen a nifty dude who also helped me out in many ways! Cheers Guys!

What is your working style (Photoshop, etc)?
I do almost all my design in Photoshop or Flash and on the odd occasion Illustrator. I use Golive for putting it all together. I love WYSIWYG editors and don't give a shit if people think I am a lesser web person because I use them.

photoshop, image ready, dreamweaver, and illustrator... well I try!

Do you think that Flash is cool or overused?
I used to think it was overused but I have sort of changed my mined lately as the quality of Flash I have been seeing has been improving hugely so I am beginning to enjoy it more.

I think flash is great... sure it can be overused... but it is this that people learn from and mold into creative and succesful designs.

Do you prefer technologically advanced sites or sites with simple but good design?
I always look at the design first personally. I think a good design will hold its own against all the bells and whistle although when the two come together it is awesome.

I love sites with all the wistles and bells... I love sites that creep up on me and smack me in the chops! I love sites that just like to be...

Do you have any cool design tips?

Design what YOU want not what everyone else is doing, and for God's sake have fun!

Yep have a good time doing what you do... and don't let others lead the way... do what you feel is right and slap it to them, if they don't like it don't stress keep plugging away coz at the end of the day design is a personal thing that is kindly shared! Respect thy Neighbour ; )

Favourite sites?
See the links section of DiK, can't be bothered listing them again.

Ummm... loads... but my big respect goes out to Bernardo Rivavelarde. A man ding his own thing with so much talent!

Favourite designers? (Web or otherwise)
The designers I am beginning to respect more and more lately are not only great designers but have a wicked attitude to the net and the way it works. People like Matt Owens, Michael Cina, Toke Nygaard, Matt Willis, Joshua Davis.

Bernardo Rivavelarde, Matt Owens, Josh Davis, James P @ Presstube

Design styles you hate?
None really... apart from trends that get used up too much.

Nothing... I like all design even if it makes me go eek! It has created a emotional response so it works... hahahaha

Do you think web designers will become the design elite?
Maybe, I think they will be seen as equals but maybe not as the elite.

nope... i think design comes in many different mediums and will always be this way... maybe the flavour of the day but never the elite... we are all needed and loved ; )

Do you see yourself as an influential web designer?
No, but I hope I do influence people by just doing my own thing and having fun doing it.

Nope... Just someone trying to have fun in my own perculiar way.

How would you like to be remembered?
As that guy, you know from that site with the weird name...you know the one...!?

As people choose to remember me I guess...

Any final comments?
It's hilarious interviewing yourself...you should try it!

Innocent! I tell you i am innocent.
