Name:
Christian Zander

Age:
16 pushing 17 (that dosen't sound as hard as when the big ones say it does it?)

Location:
Odense the third largest city in Denmark

Mac or PC:
Mac at work , shitty pc at home but im hoping to get a mac at home aswell

Site(s):
zander.dk, kiiroi.nu and a member of lockjaw.net

The Boss:
Nikolaj Stagis... at www.stagis.dk the funkiest guy around (and im not just saying that caus' he pays me)

Design education:
Nope...

Hunk, spunk or flunk:
Some girls call me hunk (and some call me lame), i am not a flunk, so i'll go for the spunk (which is btw the name of some really good candy in denmark)

Disgusting personal habits:
Well i don't really know... ohh yeah there is always a mess in my room and i never attended the first classes...

Nice personal habits:
I answer my mails (i hate people that don't), i hardly ever get really stupid when i drink (well sometimes...) and i try to always keep clean...hehe

Hobbies off the net:
Music (i was called "stereo" in my old school caus' i was always wearing my headphones). Movies ofcourse and parties, clubs, girls and books all the usual stuff, i would have liked to skate aswell but i never really learned it so i tend to sit with the girls watching and drinking instead...

Favourite quote:
"he's dead, he's been murdered and someone is responsible" from the movie "plan nine from outer space" by ed wood, that man was a genius...

What do you know about Australian web designers:

Well nothing really i know a few of you like tintin and mwg etc but when speaking of internet one of the least important things are your location and that cool...

How did you first learn of the internet:
Well i went to a school where they had an extra course on IT-stuff so i signed up and i got really interested in the whole idea of "the global internet", i then bought a modem and started designing my first site...

What do you like/hate about the net:
I like the fact that i can as a sixteen year old have a personal fan from mexico who is sending me pictures of herself saying that i rock her world, and that i have met so many cool people and contacts around the world that i would in no way have been able to meet elsewhere, and i really hate all the different shit put on the net by whoever and their grannies which mean i can't find no nothing when using a searchengine i also really hate all the cross browser coding and the bandwidth problems.

What drew you to web design:

Well i had been doing some collages earlier and i have always been interested in other forms of design and fashion so it came really fluently, i just kept on redesigning and redesigning, and then one day i read this article in a danish web magazine about a danish web designer who had won this website of the year award, so i went to see his site and i was really amazed and i wanted to be just like him that really started me (the article was about toke nygaards site lotofpeopleinboxes, which i still really love btw)

What is your working style (Photoshop, etc):
I use 95% of my time in photoshop, i then cut up my graphics in fireworks and use dreamweaver to insert simple mouseovers etc. and notepad to fine tune it and do the rest of the code.

Do you think that Flash is cool or overused:
To say my honest opinion i don't like almost any of the flash sites done today, they are so simelar... dhtml is a much neater way to get stuff to fly around...right now anyway caus shit is changing so fast, we are still at the infant stadium of the internet..

Do you prefer technologically advanced sites or sites with simple but good design:
Technique should never be the focus but the tool of presenting the contents...blah

Do you have any cool design tips:
no rules! ... when you start to put up rules then the creative and emotional part disappear ... and the purpose will die...so to say...

Favourite sites:
Uhh ahh, Well i really dig k10k, i think i visit it twice or three times a day just see if there is any news, other mags such as sabre, uploading is also greatly visited by me i dig all the sites by miika saksi i think he is one of my greatest influenences and ofcourse the virus one stuff, mschmidt has helped me so much when i first started out but the scene is evolving at 250 mph and there is no telling who will be "here" in 6 months...

Favourite designers: (Web or otherwise)
David Carson, Miika Saksi they have both infuenced me so much and Mschmidt & Toke Nygaard are so cool that i can't believe that they are danish.

Design styles you hate:
client sites generally suck...all that inner bevell...but as said earlier no rules!

Do you think web designers will become the design elite:
Well i think we see more and more designers doing both print and web and i think eventualy we will glide into one category as being graphical designers instead of either web or print and i know from myself that i want to experience more in my life than just doing web design...also today you already see examples of magazines very influenced by net design so i guess "we" will...

Do you see yourself as an influential web designer:
Hahaha well i think i would call me an influenced web designer, though i have gotten some fan mail lately..thats really strange...

How would you like to be remembered:
Simply as the guy who rocked peoples world!

Any final comments:
Yeah, thanks for interviewing me and giving me the chance to air my views...uhh yeah and im looking for money..hehehe ;-) see u around andrew...

Thanks Christian!
